]inbetween[ weekend, June 7/8, Orlando Convention Center

attending Teched and looking for something to do ‘inbetween’ the two Techeds?  Or just looking for aTeched
really great, free, community driven event for the weekend? The Florida Microsoft Community has secured Orange County Convention Center in Orlando (where TechEd is being held) for a giant community mega-event on June 7 and 8.  There’s .NET CodeCamp plus SQL Saturday plus ITPro Camp all rolled into one.  and that’s just Saturday.

On Sunday they’ve got all day tracked learning in SQL, Office Communication Server, .NET Framework 3.5, biztalk, Sharepoint, Visual Studio Team System, DotNetNuke, and more.  Russ Fustino will also be spearheading an all day Toolshed session as well.  In addition to the learning, we’ll have OpenSpace lightning talks, MCSD/MCaD exam crams, discount certification testing, MCT training, and some extra special surprises.  For more information go to http://www.devfish.net/articles/inbetween.  Register for an event on Saturday, and one on Sunday, and we’re good to go.

Video: The Land of the Lotus Eaters

During Macworld 2008 I stumbled upon Shamus and The R Dreyf Posse feat. Richard Dreyfuss in the John Lennon Educational Tour bus. They were putting together the final touches of "The Land Of The Lotus Eaters."

Six San Francisco high school students collaborated with actor and civics student Richard Dreyfuss on this savage avant garde barrage of political awareness and social consciousness. after a short round-table discussion with Mr. Dreyfuss (aka R Dreyf), the students became inspired to create a piece that pushes the envelope regarding what it means to be american. Their vision; deconstructing the misconceptions of the american Dream and presenting something simple, something pure, as our forefathers had surely intended. Their intention; to introduce to you the daunting truth of your power to influence the national and global perogative. Today is the day.

Video: Introducing John

There amongst the attendees who paid between $300 and $1700 to attend macworld; amongst all the talk of $1700 laptops that are little more than large PDa’s; amongst the countless parties and meetups, sat John, a hobo from Hot Springs, arkansas. The previous night I spent $40 to get into DEVO with several hundred other people. This day, I got a private concert for a couple of bucks in a hat and also got to spend some one-on-one time "backstage" with the artist.
